The Link January 2022 now available!
Kicking off the new year, the January edition of The Link offers guidance on cane quality management in carry-over crops this season. In this edition:
- We look at ways to manage eldana with an early application of insecticide.
- SASRI’s resin-P test is highlighted, which has confirmed that the current soil test thresholds being used by our Fertiliser Advisory Service (FAS) are adequate for providing valid recommendations.
- We discuss the Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) and its role in the eradication, reduction, containment or prevention of targeted pest populations.
- SASRI Director, Terry Stanger, looks at how the institute responded to the challenges of the past year, and also describes SASRI’s annual programme of work for 2022/23.
This edition ends with a brief summary of recent weather events and a look forward to the likely weather scenario for the first quarter of 2022.
